Frequently asked

How do I save a recipe from TikTok or Instagram?

Copy the post link (Share → Copy link), open RecipeLoop, tap the orange + button, choose the source, paste the link and tap “Import with AI.” You’ll get the ingredients, steps, timing and estimated nutrition in a few seconds. You can also import from YouTube, any recipe website, a photo of a cookbook page, a screenshot, plain text, or type a recipe yourself.

The import didn’t capture the recipe correctly

Some posts genuinely don’t contain a full recipe — if the ingredients are only spoken aloud with no caption, there may be nothing to read. Try these:

  • Check the caption or comments for the written recipe and use “Text” import instead
  • Screenshot the recipe and use “Photo” or “Screenshot” import
  • Edit any field on the review screen before saving — nothing is locked

If a specific link fails and you think it shouldn’t, email us the link and we’ll fix the importer.

How does household sharing work?

Open your profile → Household → Create household, name it, and you’ll get a six-letter invite code. Anyone you share it with taps “Join with code” on their own device. Everyone in the household then shares one weekly plan and one grocery list, updating live. Close and reopen the app once after joining so the shared plan loads. You need a free account for household sharing, since the data syncs through the cloud.

Someone left the household — what happens to the plan?

The plan and grocery list belong to whoever created the household. If they leave, ownership passes to the longest-standing remaining member, and the previous plan stays with the original owner. For that reason it’s best if the main cook creates the household. Leaving returns you to your own separate plan and list.

Why doesn’t a meal show any calories?

Meals show exact per-serving nutrition when the recipe has it — usually because it was imported with AI. When a meal has no nutrition data, RecipeLoop estimates from the dish and marks it with a ~ so you know it’s approximate. Either way it counts toward your daily total. To get exact numbers, open the meal and import the full recipe.

Do I need an account?

No. Everything works signed out and your data stays on your device. Create a free account only when you want cloud backup, to use the same data on another device, or to share a household.

How do I delete my account and data?

Email [email protected] from the address on your account and we’ll permanently delete it and all associated data within 7 days. To remove local data only, delete the app from your device.

Is my nutrition information medical advice?

No. Calorie and macro figures are estimates for general information only, and RecipeLoop is not a medical or dietary service. Talk to a qualified professional before making decisions about your health, especially if you have a medical condition or are managing an eating disorder.

I found a bug / I have a feature idea

Please send it — small team, real inbox, and feature requests genuinely shape what gets built next. For bugs it helps to include your iPhone model, iOS version, and what you were doing when it happened.
