RecipeLoop works without an account and keeps your data on your device by default. If you create an account, your recipes and plans sync to our database so you can use them on another device or share them with your household. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.
Who we are
RecipeLoop (“we”, “us”) is an iPhone app that helps you save recipes, plan meals and generate grocery lists. This policy explains what we collect and why. Questions or requests: [email protected].
What we collect
Content you create. Recipes you save or import, meal plans, grocery lists, collections, meal ratings, taste preferences, dietary preferences and allergies, and optional nutrition or budget targets.
Account information. If you create an account, your email address and an authentication token. We never see or store your password in readable form.
Household information. If you create or join a household, the household name, its invite code, and which accounts are members. Members can see each other’s email addresses and the shared plan and grocery list.
Photos and links you import. When you import a recipe, the link, text or image you provide is sent to our server and to our AI provider for processing. We don’t keep the source image after the recipe is extracted; the resulting recipe is stored with your data.
Basic technical data. Standard server logs (such as request times and error messages) used to keep the service working and diagnose problems.
What we don’t collect
- No advertising identifiers and no cross-app or cross-site tracking
- No location data
- No contacts, calendar or health-app data
- No access to your photo library beyond images you explicitly choose to import
How we use it
Only to make the app work: extracting recipes you import, generating and updating your meal plans and grocery lists, personalising suggestions from your own ratings and taste preferences, syncing your data across your devices and household, and responding to support requests.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers who process data only to run the service on our behalf:
- Supabase — database, authentication and cloud storage of your synced content
- Anthropic — the AI used to extract recipes and build meal plans. Content sent for processing is not used to train their models.
- Railway — hosting for our application server
- Apple — app distribution and, if you subscribe in future, payment processing
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Where your data lives
If you don’t create an account, your data stays on your device and never reaches our servers, apart from the content of individual imports and plan requests you trigger. If you do create an account, your content is stored on Supabase infrastructure and protected by row-level security so only you — and members of your household, for the shared plan and grocery list — can access it.
How long we keep it
We keep your content while your account is active. Delete your account and we permanently remove your data within 30 days, except where we must retain something to comply with a legal obligation.
Your choices and rights
- Use the app without an account — your data never leaves your device
- Access or export — email us and we’ll provide a copy of your data
- Correct — edit or delete any recipe, plan or preference directly in the app
- Delete — email [email protected] from your account address and we’ll delete your account and data
- Leave a household — at any time from your profile, returning you to your own private data
Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK, or California) you may have additional rights over your personal information. Contact us and we’ll honour them.
Children
RecipeLoop is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access to stored data is restricted by row-level security rules, and authentication is handled by an established provider. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information and will notify affected users of any breach as required by law.

Calorie and macro figures shown in the app are estimates for general information only. RecipeLoop is not a medical or dietary service and does not provide medical advice.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we’ll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
